TEXTURE FOLLOWS FORM

Brief:
‘Ceaselessly dividing, the parts of matter form little swirls within a
swirl, and in them there are other, smaller ones, and still more in the concave
intervals of the swirls which touch one another. Matter thus offers a texture
that is infinitely porous, that is spongy or cavernous without empty parts,
since there is always a cavern in the cavern: each body, however small it may
be, contains a world insofar as it is perforated by uneven passageways, and the
world, surrounded and penetrated by an increasingly subtle fluid, was like a
“pond of matter in which there are different currents and waves”’ (Deleuze,
1991).
“Catmull
& Clark, two computer scientists who were of a Pixar background intensively
tried to simplify geometries, changing the jagged and pixilated forms to smooth
ones. Michael Hansmeyer, an architect and programmer who comes from the blobby,
high-definition background of Columbia Architecture School, uses the same procedure
to go from smooth to complex. His whole approach is based on a specific
orchestration of an event, during the application of the algorithm”.
Το εργαστήριο αυτό είναι η εισαγωγή στην κατασκευή (με απλά
μέσα) μίας πλατφόρμας μέσω της οποίας η γεωμετρική υποδιαίρεση γίνεται
μορφογενετικό εργαλείο. Μιας πλατφόρμας οπου η μορφή δίνει όλες τις απαραίτητες
πληροφορίες για την ατέρμονη μετάλλαξή της σε ένα πλήθος από κλίμακες. Εκμαιεύοντας
σταδιακά μικρές γεωμετρίες μέσα από τις μεγάλες, το όριο μεταξύ Form και Texture αρχίζει να μεταμορφώνεται σε
ένα πεδίο δυνατοτήτων.
Απαιτήσεις software:

Grasshopper
plugins: Weaverbird (πρέπει να
ενεργοποιήσετε και το wb tab στο grasshopper), MeshEdit
·
Z-Brush 4
Είναι απαραίτητες οι βασικές γνώσεις σε rhino και η εξοικείωση στο grasshopper.
Είναι επιθυμητή αλλά όχι αναγκαία η εξοικείωση με Z-brush.
Δεν απαιτείται γνώση προγραμματισμού / αλγορίθμων.
